How to get there?

The second huge task that you'll face (after reading the study materials) is actually getting to the venue. Most of you are travelling from abroad, landing/arriving in Prague. That is the part we won't help you with. But what happens next?

Prague is big. And "luckily", most of you will have a chance to cross it from one end to the other on Sunday. The Václav Havel airport is in the very west of Prague, while the Florenc bus station is in the city centre and the Černý Most bus station is in the very east. So, in order to get from the airport to the Černý Most station, you'll need more than an hour. But how exactly will you find your way around? It's rather complicated, but don't give up, you can do it!

From the airport to Černý Most

The easiest way...

...is to board the bus AE (Airport Express, 60 CZK) which leaves from the airport every 30 minutes. You can buy the ticket from the driver. Get off the bus at the second stop (Náměstí Republiky, after 36mins), find a metro station, buy a ticket and board the metro (line B, direction Černý most). This option should take approximately 1 hour, but you will have the opportunity to see the Prague centre from the bus.

The fastest way...

...is to board bus AE (Airport Express, 60 CZK), but to get off already at the first stop (Dejvická, after 17 minutes). Find a metro station, buy a ticket (32 CZK), board the metro (line A, direction Depo Hostivař or Skalka). Then get off at the fourth stop (Můstek, after 6 minutes) and switch to the yellow metro (line B, direction Černý Most). This option should take a little less than an hour.

The cheapest way...

......is the same as "the fastest way", with only one difference: instead of taking the Airport Express bus, you take the public transport (line No. 119), which makes more stops and which ends at Dejvická. It is a 20-minute ride with a lot of stops (instead of 17 minutes with no stops if you take the AE). Also, you can buy the ticket from the driver and it is valid also for the metro, so no problems with that.

From the airport to Florenc

The easiest way...

...is to board bus AE (Airport Express, 60 CZK) which leaves from the airport every 30 minutes. You can buy the ticket from the driver. Get off the bus at the second stop (Náměstí Republiky, after 36mins). From the place where you get of the AE bus, you can take either tram No. 8 or bus No. 207, the second stop will be Florenc. However, you'll need a new ticket for these 2 stops (24 CZK).

From the train station to Florenc or Černý Most

This is a little bit more simple. You arrive to Hlavní nádraží (the Prague main station), you buy your metro ticket (24 CZK), board the red metro (line C, direction Letňany) and either get of at the first stop (Florenc, after 1 minute) or switch to the yellow metro (line B, direction Černý Most). You should be there in less than 30 minutes. In the second case you will need the 32 CZK metro ticket.

In any case, you can find all the transport schedules here. The names of the stops are as follows:

Terminál 1, Terminál 2 = the airport

Hlavní nádraží = the train station

Florenc = the bus station

Černý Most = the bus station

You can also find some useful information at the airport website

From Florenc or Černý Most to Špindlerův Mlýn

The bus should cost about 7 EUR (up to 200 CZK). You can buy some of the tickets online. We will add the actual bus schedules in the last weeks before the summer school.

From Špindlerův Mlýn to the chalet

We'll pick up your luggage and you'll walk up the hill to the cottage. If you don't feel fit to do the walk, we'll give you a ride.
