Afterwards, the focus of the discussion shifted towards the EU as a model for other integration projects around the world and it was surprising to realise that many of the institutional features of the EU were adopted by other international organisations like the NAFTA or others. Jan’s general course continued in the afternoon with a lecture and a discussion on the institutional balance and the law-making process in the EU.

Day 2: Informal governance in the EU and the EU as a model 12 July 2016
First guest lecturer Mareike Kleine from the LSE was talking about the informal governance in the EU. She elaborated on the political and diplomatic processes which go beyond the legal rules and since the vast majority of the participants are lawyers, this was a great departing point for a really heated debate.
