Dr. Mareike Kleine will be giving a lecture on Informal Governance and on EU as a Model at CLS Summer School. Dr Kleine is associate professor of EU and International Politics at the London School of Economics (LSE). She has held visiting positions at Princeton University and Harvard University. She completed her PhD in political science at Freie Universitt Berlin.
Her research interests include theories of international organisation and International Political Economy, informal and formal governance, the interplay of domestic politics and international institutions, negotiation theories and normative questions of global governance. Her book Informal Governance in the European Union (Cornell University Press 2013) shows how informal norms in the EU and other international organizations serve as a means to provide discretion to states facing unexpected domestic political shocks.
