The team composed of Barbora Budinska (Humboldt Uni), Eleana Kypriotaki (Uni Leiden), Marcin Barański (EUI) and Frederik Behre (Uni Leiden), who represented the responding government, showed a slightly more persuasive presentation of their case and hence were declared the winners of the 5th View from a Mountain: Moot Court Competition. Except for the high esteem from the bench and the colleagues, the team also won a liquid prize from our regular sponsor Karloff Destilery.
For the afternoon, the highlight of the course was planed - professor Lenaerts had his keynote lecture on the current developments in the ECJ’s case-law, but he also touched upon a more general topic of the relationship of the national legal orders and EU law, the relationship between the national courts and the ECJ and among the courts of the member states - that namely in the context of mutual trust and mutual recognition.
The whole program and hence also the summer school ended by a closing ceremony, where diplomas were handed over and after which everyone celebrated the beautiful gathering we had yet again in the Krkonoše mountains. The whole summer school was great deal of work for everyone, but we believe that it was also a lot of fun and a genuine enjoyment of the essence of being together and, despite of being from such various backgrounds, having so much in common.
