Meeting with CLS members
A part of our team met with active members of Common Law Society on Friday 14 October. Our academic director Jan Komárek introduced himself alongside with his vision for future cooperation. Over a delicious dinner, we had also an opportunity to discuss some new organisational developments. It seems that you can look forward to meeting some new faces in our team next year. more

Day 13: Moot court finals, key note lecture and the end of the course
The morning was dedicated to the moot court final. The level of pleadings was absolutely stunning given the time and space which the students had to prepare. The bench grilled the advocates for about an hour and half, but they remained firm in their arguments and defended their positions with vigour. more

Day 12: Last lectures, moot courts starts
In the morning session, the topics of Brexit and TTIP were addressed yet again but this time from rather critical normative perspective. Mike Wilkinson and Maria Bartl presented their ideas to the students and engaged in a very deep discussion. In the afternoon the selection round of the moot court took its place. more

Day 11: TTIP and general course on equality
Morning session was dedicated to the issue of free trade and namely to TTIP. Gabriel Silles-Brügge offered a very comprehensible and coherent look at the very controversial and disputed transatlantic free trade agreement and addressed most of the issues that are connected with TTIP in as objective and factual based manner as possible. After that Jan ended the general course with the last lecture on solidarity, justice and equality. Not only for this lecture, but for the whole general course, he earned a long standing ovation. more

Day 10: Migration and cyber security
Ana Beduschi addressed one of the most difficult challenges the EU has ever faced - the migration crisis. The class tried to identify its roots and possible ways through it with respect to all related social, economic and security issues. In the afternoon, our other guest from the University of Exeter Kubo Mačák talked about cyber security in Europe and in the world. Although there were not many international lawyers among the participants, Kubo got everyone participating and engaged as only he can. more

Day 9: Fundamental values, monetary union and austerity
Tuesday was all dedicated to the general course. Jan talked about EU’s fundamental values, the core of the European integration - the market and competition and after the lunch, issues of monetary union, austerity policies and wealth redistribution in the EU were addressed. Given the fact that among the participants there were students from all parts of Europe, the discussion on this topic was particularly enriching. more

Day 8: Brexit and moot case
The morning sessions were dedicated to the topic of Brexit, which was again presented by Ciarán Burke. The goal of the discussion was to analyse the cause and grounds for the recent vote of the British people, to draw some conclusions and to look into possible solutions of the current tricky EU-UK relationship. After the lunch, the moot court case was distributed amongst the participants and immediately they dived into it with all their mental and physical powers. more
